Who is St. Monica?

Patron saint of children returning to the church.

St. Monica was born in modern day Algeria and had three sons. Two of her sons entered religious life, but one son, (saint) Augustine, was rebellious and turned away from the church. Eventually Monica had a vision about reconciling with her son. She followed him in his travels. After 17 years, and with help from St. Ambrose, she managed to help her son convert back to the church.

St. Monica also converted her husband and mother-in-law before their death.
